Insurance and Breast Reduction Surgery

Did you know that there has been quite a shift in thinking at Insurancre companies in the last 10 years or so about breast reduction surgery?   When I started about 25 years ago, it was fairly uncommon for an insurance company to pay for reduction mammoplasty.   And those that finally pre authorized the surgery made you jump through all kinds of hoops to get there.     Many required physical therapy, chiropractic, specially made bras, 6 months conservative treatment with anti-inflammatories, special anti-fungal cream used on the rash under the breasts and the list goes on.  Many insurance companies today are finally accepting that the only treatment that works for problems associated with large, pendulous breasts is to reduce the breasts!   (Radical thinking)   So, if you've tried to get a breast reduction paid for before through your insurance company and just gave up, you might try again.   Each company has their own set of criteria for the surgery, but most are more agreeable than they were even 5 years ago.    Breast eduction surgery is universally praised as "the best thing I've ever done".   It's worth looking in to.
