Don't Breath the Air!

Could the weather BE anymore miserable and depressing?   I'm sure the people in the Hurricane Sandy's path might argue, but the rest of us are really getting tired of it.   Are you dreaming of lying in the sun, warm and lazy?  Is part of your dream that you're svelt and buff?     Now's the time to look at getting something done if you want to look fabulous by swim suit season.   As unbelievable as it seems right now, one day the sun will come out again, the snow will melt, the grass will grow and we'll break out our summer clothes again.  Just hang on.   (In the meantime if you're considering it, you ought to prepare to look good in those summer clothes.)    Remember, surgical results take time for the maximum improvement.   Don't wait too long.

Winter Pampering

The weather outside is just awful.    Cold, gray, smoggy---just plain bleak.    And it's probably going to be a while before things change either for the better or even worse.   Give yourself a little boost by coming in and spending an hour with one of our aestheticians.    Nothing like a little pampering to lift the spirits.  Whether it's a microderm treatment or a spa facial, it's a great way to spend a little time.   Give your skin a little break from the dry, stale, indoor air that seems to suck the moisture and life out of our skin this time of year.   It's even a real boost to have your eyebrows professionally done.   Even little things make us feel more chipper.  So be kind to yourself.    If you can't afford a facelift right now, come get a facial.    Get yourself a new skin product that will replace the moisture and improve the texture of your skin.    You'll may even feel better about the weather.

Protect that Skin from the Sun

Did you know that even in cloudy weather your skin is subject to the damaging affects of the sun's harmful UVB and UVA rays?   The most important product for protection against aging  you can put on your skin is sunscreen.   Rain or shine, hot or cold, old or young sunscreen is a must.  Many assume that if you can't see the sun, the sun can't see you.  Use your sunscreen like medicine.    Use it every day even on days you think you'd be fine without.   You'll be glad you did.   Sun damage really is cummulative.  (Meaning it adds up)   You may not be able to do much about your genetics, pollution or location, but you can protect against damage from the sun.  We have several very good sun protection products in our office.   Call the aesthetician and ask which one would suit your needs best.

Momentary Relapse

So, are you one of those who sorta' let your fitness rules go for the last 6 weeks?  Did your gym membership gather dust on the shelf.   (Can you even find your gym membership card?)   Did you stop worrying about whether M & M's were part of a healthy breakfast or not?  Did your daily walk go from daily to weekly to non-existent?  Are you struggling with those fitted jeans that used to fit and now squeeze the stuffing out of you?  Well, if this happened to you, now's the time to get back into a fitness routine.  Research shows that most peopole's New Year's resolutions include at least one plan to improve health through nutrition or exercise or both.   And don't forget about getting a good night's sleep.   That's critical to making you look and feel better.  Now's the time to get started.     Start small with something doable.    You're not training for the Olympics here.     Start with a brisk walk for 30 minutes.    Add some vegetables to your diet.   Eat only 1 cookie instead of 6.    Even small changes can result in big dividends.    The important thing is to do something--and do it now.   Think how glad you'll be in May that you got started now.
